Located in Upcountry Maui, on the slopes of Haleakala mountain, Makawao and Pukalani the two towns are separated by the Haleakala Highway.  The historic town of Makawao has a paniolo feel to it, meaning Hawaiian cowboy.  You'll notice as you drive through quite a few horse pastures or ranches, and may sometimes see some horse riders around town on the less busier streets.  There are no condominium complexes in Makawao, however some Single Family Homes have been converted to 'Residential Condo' status.  Which is similar to subdividing.  There is a rodeo held annually in this town as well as Polo matches every now and then.

Makawao town is mostly centered around Baldwin Ave, and Makawao Ave intersection.  In this busy tourist area there are many boutiques, gift shops, Komoda's Bakery, and a quite a few food establishments.  The area has quite a few different home styles ranging from plantation, to ranch, and many more modern custom homes as well.  Search for Makawao Homes For Sale.
